Daily Bling - Thursday, September 30

Stud-dy as She Bows
I've said it before but I will say it again, I absolutely love ModCloth for unique, vintage inspired finds. Today's Bling called the "Stud-dy as She Bows" bracelet is so adorable I've decided I need to make it mine. Studs and bows? I mean if that doesn't scream my style then I don't know what does..

The obvious about today's daily bling is the instant cool factor this leather bracelet has with its mix of femininity and edginess. The not so obvious would be the fact that this bracelet is actually incredibly wearable and versatile. In basic black we definitely see it as a piece that would fabulously compliment all of Fall's trends (animal prints, lace, even the military look). In its pink variation (see here on website) and makes a great girly statement piece.

The "Stud-dy as She Bows" bracelet (brilliant name btw) is $37.99

Fall Trend Report 2010: Back to Black

Black is always in style, its a classic go to for any girl. Season after season, we see black as a staple trend we can turn too when quite frankly we don't know what else to wear! And if you are a New Yorker, like me, then its practically a uniform.

This season black returns with pzazz! Sequins, leather, lace (see: so lacey trend), snakeskin, patent - black is only good this Fall when it's got something stand-out going on! Don't be afraid to mix and match patterns and styles of black together for a look thats anything but boring...

We like the idea of wearing black mono-chromatically with just a hint of gold here and there to break the look up. Add a solid gold cocktail ring and studded earrings to complete this look.

Back to Black Breakdown
  • Halston Heritage Carla Lady Flap Bag, $295 at ShopBop
  • J. Crew Sequin Slouchy Pants, $195 at J. Crew stores and catalog
  • LOFT "The Perfect Layering Tank" (not shown), $14.99 LOFT
  • Alexander Wang Cropped Leather Jacket, $1100 at Net-a-Porter
  • Yosi Samra Flats in Merlin Cracked Black Leather, $65 at Yosi Samra

Daily Bling - Monday, September 27

Gaze Into the Future Neckace

I'm not 100% sure if I'm a fan of HBO's new highly-anticipated prohibition era drama, Boardwalk Empire, but one thing is for certain... I am totally inspired by the 1920s glamour and style! On last night's episode, one of the main characters, a young gangster-in-training named Jimmy, bought the "women" in his life some gorg. jewels and it got me thinking about the gorgeous accessories of this era.

Since I am particularly jazzed about this "burlesque" look, what I predict will be a huge trend(and a flapper a definite halloween favorite this year), today's daily bling is actually blings... my favorite jewelry inspired by the glamour and art deco feel of the roaring 1920s.

Bottom Left: Spikey Snowflake Ring, $98 J. Crew

It's Beginning to Feel A lot Like... Burberry!

There is something about the Fall season and that classic Burberry check pattern that just go together. With Fall in full swing (despite the freakish 80 degree weather today) I've been begining to think alot about outerwear, specifically Burberry outerwear. And to be honest with you all, I'm an outerwear fiend. I can never have enough coats, jackets, vests, scarves, hats. Well, you get the idea...

Burberry does the Fall jacket well and this season, their new younger, fresher (slightly more affordable) Burberry Brit line as a bunch of pieces we are just absolutely lusting after! We think it may be the season to finally splurge on a good trench... thoughts?

Below are some of the best pieces from the outerwear collection for Fall, all available at Saks.

From Top to Bottom (Short Checkered Trench Coat, $695, Fur Trimmed Hooded Parker, $995, Convertible Jacket/Vest, $695, Knit Checker Jacket, $575)

Daily Bling - Wednesday, September 22

I am pretty sad to say that Fashion's Night Out was pretty lame for me. I had my best intentions... I even was tempted by Chanel!! But of course, it didnt seem right to spend $600 on ballet flats... even if they were custom made.

I ended up with just one purchase that night, and it may be little but it was a good one! My new favorite bracelet (which I haven't taken off in nearly 10 days now) is my new Banana Republic Shimmering Strand Bracelet, today's daily bling!

The shimmery strand bracelet comes in three gorgeous variations, this golden peach tone - my personal go to, silver and black diamond. The bracelet makes the perfect little bling to wear next your watch and at $29.50 is virtually a guilt free purchase (much the opposite of those pricey Chanel Flats...)

Aqua Stretch Snake Ring

I don't know what has gotten into me lately but I'm really feelin' rings that feature animals hehe! First it was the gorg. E&J Elephant Ring and now this sexy Snake statment ring from Aqua has me tempted to break the shopping seal.

Luckily, Aqua's line of jewelry, like their chic line of clothing exclusive to Bloomingdales (side note: you MUST check out their new Vena Cava for Aqua collection) is very affordable. This ultra-cool snake ring is only $28 and definitely has all the intricate detailing of some the more expensive lines of jewelry who do this same sort of look (I'm talking to you Noir). Furthermore, its stretchy so you don't have to worry about knowing your ring size to purchase online and could def. scoop this up as a gift!

Fall Trend Report 2010: So Lacey

Our Fall Trend Report continues with a look thats a little racy.... lace! Lace has definitely made a comeback this fall but don't think delicate and soft, think edgy and sexy! Lace is best served up this year in the form of a dress or a skirt. We are just loving this gorgeous dress from Plastic Island - not overally "sexy" but just the right amount of a sass; a great girls night look!

If the rocker girl was so last Fall then this fall is all about the "motorcycle chick" with a twist! Dress the look down with a wedge boot, some funky statement jewelry like a large silver cocktail ring or long necklace and add a pop of color somewhere (in this case with a hot pink cross body bag!!)

Daily Bling - Friday, September 17

Leather Watches are all the rage but a co-worker asked me a very good question yesterday. What about affordable leather watches that are still equally chic? There are ton of ceramic and stainless steel steals on the market from very trendy brands but the leather look is much harder to find. Of course, we would all die for Cartier... but its just not that realistic for us all, especially if you are looking for a trend watch.

My favorite leather-band watch is this Marc by Marc Jacobs pick. The look of this watch is certainly a modern twist on the classic leather look - its fun and young! We love the burgundy face and strong gold detailing around the face. It's aesthetically very Marc but its a little more sophisticated then some of his other more quirky jewelry pieces. It would make a great addition to fall's preppy or military styles.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs Amy Leather Strap Watch is $150 and available at Saks.

Fall Trends 2010: Into the Wild

This Fall, animal print is back - in a big way! Actually the more "wild" the better. We are seeing animal inspired looks everywhere from leopard prints to fur booties. The fashionistas are showing us that there is no reason to be afraid of wearing this untamed look - even all at once!

We like the idea of pairing a leopord dress with a fabulous black fur vest and booties for a look that's a little boho yet sexy. Add a studded bag or a colorful piece of jewelry to mix it up a bit.

The Into the Wild Breakdown:
  • Tinley Road Faux Fur Vest, $69 at Piperlime
  • AKA New York Cocoon Dress, $318 at Shopbop
  • Vanessa Mooney One of a Kind Mixed Bangles, $220 at Shopbop
  • Rebecca Minkoff Quilted MAB Bag, $565 at Rebecca Minkoff
  • Nine West Priska Bootie, $149 at Nine West

How I Wore It Weekend - My New Fav. Fall Look!

This weekend I attended a work dinner with some of my favorite beauty bloggers in honor of New York Fashion Week. I decided to debut two of my favorite pick-ups for Fall, a camel colored chiffon and velvet dress from H&M and my new Nine West lace up shoe-booties.

I accessorized the look with my burgundy Marc Jacobs Stam bag (balancing the mix of high/low), my gold Michael Kors watch, primary colored Swarovski crystal indian inspired bangles and a long gold lariat style necklace. The end result? 70s inspired with a mix of boho chic!

Some detailed shots below:

It must be said that my Nine West Booties were so comfortable and I got millions of compliments on them. A definite recommended must-have for the season!

Full Breakdown:
  • H&M Chiffon Dress, $39.50
  • Nine West Booties, $139 purchased at ShoeWoo
  • Marc Jacobs Stam Bag, (got at a sample sale but regular $1200)

Daily Bling - Wednesday, September 8

Today we love these art deco inspired statement earrings by Hive & Honey. We love the mix of gold fringe with black and crystal stone details. A little rock-n-roll and lady that lunches all in one.

These earrings versatile enough to wear with multiple looks from casual to work to night out with the girls at the same time being special enough to really doll up a cocktail dress for a Fall event. We'd wear them with an LBD and open-toe booties for a modern take on formal attire.

The Hive & Honey Art Deco Earrings are available for $46 (very reasonable, don't cha think?) at Piperlime.

Fall Trend Recap '10 - All About Camel

Camel is definitely the must-have color of the season and we are seeing it everywhere from clothes to shoes to bags and even jewelry!
The best way to wear Fall's hottest shade is monochromatically. Layer multiple camel pieces together (doesn't matter if they are a perfect match) and include one POP accessory in a different color - such as a bag in a deeper brown or belt in hunter green.

All About Camel Breakdown:

Dress: H&M, in stores only $39.50

Boots: Nine West Vailling Boots, $198 at NineWest.com

Cardigan: J. Crew Dream Solange Cardigan, $158 at Jcrew.com

Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Bag in Cognac, ShopBop.com

Necklace: Arden B, ArdenB.com

Daily Bling - Friday, September 3

You probably already know that I am a big fan of anything with an elephant on it. As a self proclaimed yogi (although I've been seriously slacking on my practice lately) and somewhat of a superstition-believer I love what the elephant represents - good luck!

This ring by twin-sister fashion icons Mary Kate & Ashley for their super chic Elizabeth & James line is not only sentimental for me but super cool! I love when designers find a unique way to incorporate the elephant charm into jewelry and this ring does just that with black sapphire details and diamond eyes!

Elizabeth & James Sterling Silver Elephant Ring retails for $325 and is available at Bloomingdales.

Daily Bling - Thursday, September 2

The LOFT delivers again this Fall with unique, gorgeous jewelry that has me wanting more! This statement necklace the "Stone/Chain Tangled Necklace" is a gorgeous convo of gunmetal chains that have a "rose gold finish" with multi-metallic tones of agate crystals.

We think this is the everyday solution to Lea Michele's gorgeous Emmy's necklace. Wear it with a navy knit dress and channel your inner "Gleek."

The Stone/Chain Tangled Necklace is a must-have pick-up at only $69.50. It's available in-stores and at LOFT online.
