Happy "Holly"ween!

I, for one, am a HUGE fan of Halloween. I love dressing up - maybe its my theater background or all of those theme parties I went to in college. Either way, every year I get super into Halloween - whether I put together my own costume or buy one in a bag! I always end up going to a few Halloween parties and being multiple costumes each year.

To get you in the mood - here are some of my favorite Halloween looks from the past.

(In order of appearance: Modern Vampire featuring H&M finds, Sookie Stackhouse Costume pulled together from HBO.com Store and American Apparel, Alice in Wonderland straight from the bag, Ricky's, Hippie aka Nicole Richie pulled from my own closet)

There is no reason to not dress up and with that in mind consider BBB to have gotten "a spooky makeover" for the rest of the week. Tomorrow, we will break down our favorite last minute, easy Halloween looks and look out Sunday for what I wore this Halloween!

How I Wore It Weekend - My New Fav. Fall Look!

This weekend I attended a work dinner with some of my favorite beauty bloggers in honor of New York Fashion Week. I decided to debut two of my favorite pick-ups for Fall, a camel colored chiffon and velvet dress from H&M and my new Nine West lace up shoe-booties.

I accessorized the look with my burgundy Marc Jacobs Stam bag (balancing the mix of high/low), my gold Michael Kors watch, primary colored Swarovski crystal indian inspired bangles and a long gold lariat style necklace. The end result? 70s inspired with a mix of boho chic!

Some detailed shots below:

It must be said that my Nine West Booties were so comfortable and I got millions of compliments on them. A definite recommended must-have for the season!

Full Breakdown:
  • H&M Chiffon Dress, $39.50
  • Nine West Booties, $139 purchased at ShoeWoo
  • Marc Jacobs Stam Bag, (got at a sample sale but regular $1200)
  • Swarovski Bangles, $29.50 at a Gilt Groupe Sale
  • Michael Kors Gold Watch, $250

Fall Trends 2010: In The Military

I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad to say this, but it's inevitable. Fall is right around the corner! Every Monday for the rest of August and early September I'll be starting a new series on the blog called "Fall Trends Report 2010." Regardless of not wanting to give up the beach or the pool, I am pretty excited for some Fall fashion.

One of my favorite trends of the season is the military look. Combat boots (heeled or flat) and camo are both making comebacks the season. How do you soften the look so its not too hard or edgy? With feminine materials like silk and soft cotton and pretty gemstone jewelry.

In the Military Breakdown:
  • Madewell Sandwashed Silk Tank in Grey/ $68
  • Michael Michael Kors Charlton Cross Body Bag in Black/ $128
  • J. Crew Femme Camo Delancy Skinny Pant (one of my newly acquired fav. pieces of the season)/ $79.50
  • J. Crew Fenton/Fallon Jaws Necklace/ $135
  • Steve Madden Commbat Boots/ $99.50

How I Wore It Weekend - Bridesmaid Edition!

This weekend was super fun filled as one of my bff's from college (and sorority sister) got married in NYC! The bridesmaids wore gorg. charcoal grey chiffon Amsale gowns and the bride wore a Vera Wang design that was to die for (and very similar to Chelsea Clinton's style coincidentally!)

Here are some pictures of the wedding. I opted to go for a Grecian look to compliment the dress's flowy style with a half-up/half down wavy hair style. I kept the accessorizing simple as I was a bridesmaid after all, opting for silver statement chandelier earrings and a few thin Swarovski crystal bangles as my only jewelry. The beautiful white and blush rose mix bouquet also adds to the overall look.

How I Wore It Weekend - The Long Island Wedding

This weekend I had the honor of attending one of my closest friend's wedding to her high school sweetheart ( and my bf's good friend). The wedding was held at the gorgeous Caryle on The Green, a country club on a golf course in Long Island, NY. The food was delish, band was hot, bride looked absolutely gorg. and good times were had by all! But you may be wondering, what did I wear? Here is my look breakdown:

Dress: Yeojin Bea Purple/Cream Colorblock Silk Cocktail Dress from Barney's New York
Jewelry: Aqua Statement Necklace, featured in Thursday's Daily Bling, layered J. Crew Gold Bangle Bracelets, and pearl drop earrings, borrowed from my mom
Bag: Lord & Taylor Gold Sequin Clutch (from my senior prom - over 8 years old!)
Shoes: Gold Aldo Strappy Sandals (about 4 years old and still hot!)

Wedding Wednesdays!

Summer is in full swing which means Wedding season is officially upon us! With bachelorette and showers behind us, its time to concentrate on the main event - the Wedding. It can be pretty hard to figure out what to wear to a wedding, especially without completly breaking the bank. We are starting a new series for the month of June here on Booties, Bags, and Baubles called Wedding Wednesdays. Each week we will break down a different look dependent on the type of wedding you'll be attending: Beach, City, Destination, etc.

Week 1 is Country Club Wedding Week. We thought we'd start off the series with the wedding that everyone has been to or will be going to this summer. Its most common in the summer to be attending a Country Club Wedding but getting the look down right for this one can be pretty challenging. Just because the reception may include an outdoor component doesn't mean you should show up in a sundress and flats yet the Country Club setting makes the wedding more relaxed in feel then a city soiree. Our tip? Go for a classic cocktail dress and accessorize it with a lower-heeled open toe sandal and some soft accessories.

We love this jeweled embellished cocktail dress with shades of blue colorblock. The dress has just the right amount of dressy bling to take it into evening yet the style isnt overpowering for the day. We like pairing it with more simplified woven silver sandals, clear crystal jewelry and the ultimate prepster straw and silver clutch.

The Breakdown:
  • Dress: Mignon Short Strapless Colorblock Dress/ $348 at Bloomingdales
  • Jewelry: Grayce by Molly Simms / $100 - $225 at Grayce by Molly Simms
  • Shoes: Bandolina Orielle/ $68 at Zappos
  • Clutch: Tory Burch Rattan Clutch in Silver/ $248 at Jildor

I'm Baaack! How I Wore It Vegas Recap

I'm baaack! Vegas was a fun time with my girls --- probably too fun ---but it lent me some inspiration for the old bloggie since this particular travel group is probably the most fashionable group of girls I know! Getting together with them is always fun and fashionable! Everyone trades their fashion, beauty and style tips; its like my real life SATC!

See a group shot below and I think you will get what I am talking about! I am in the center-ish in the silver and mauve striped sequin dress from H&M's Fall Collection with my Jimmy Choo for H&M clutch and studded leather gladiator heels.

And for the daytime? It was all about the bathing suit and Ray Bans. I wore a new one from Victoria's Secret in an abstract colored leopard print. I finished the look with a cotton Victoria's Secret romper and Tory Burch flip flops!

It was such a fun weekend but now that I am back in the swing of things I'll be back to regularly schedule daily bling post beginning tomorrow am!

To Sample Sale, or Not to Sample Sale: Rebecca Minkoff Edition

Spending money in New York is awfully easy. Not only are our rent's high, our groceries more expensive and having a parking spot considered a true luxury but there are all sorts of other other tempting, expensive side effects of being a NYer. One of these is the seasonal sample sale. With nearly every top designer having a sample sale after every season its hard for the fashion-obsessed to save money. Even though you are getting a deal technically, the sample sale makes it hard to resist the shopping itch and such is true with this week's highlight: the Rebecca Minkoff seasonal sale.

We resisted the urge to go to the RM sale all week even though we have been dying to get our hand's on one of her bags (this was hard to do with all the chatter about how awesome the sale was on Twitter). With a busy work week it was nearly impossible to get there anyway, but alas on the last day (today) I finally caved. And let me tell you I wanted everything! Neon cross-body's, studded clutches, and MABs galore. Buying just one was hard enough. I think I ended up making the right choice- I scooped up this lovely Black Darling Bag, picture below.

I needed an x-large black bag for work purposes, which is why I went with the Darling. It's just a little rocker with the gold zipper detailing and fringe. It's not over the top or too trendy, but still super cute. I really wanted to buy this super hot grey mini MAB with neon pink detailing as well - but alas I couldn't justify the purchase and decided to buy what I needed instead of what I just wanted. We got it for about 60% off which we say is pretty good. What do you think of the purchase?

How I Wore It Weekend

Happy Mother's Day All! Today I spent the day on Long Island with my mom, grandma, aunt and cousin (and the men too) to celebrate the day! It was unusually chilly in NYC and quite a shock since its been about 80 degrees lately. Decided to play it casual cool in one of our fav. cardis - a navy striped nautical piece by Yacht Club we got at Intermix almost 4 years ago! I paired it with some of my J. Crew favs, new Yosi Samra flats and out gold Coach cross-body bag.
Look from Head to Toe:
  • Nautical Striped Cardigan, Yacht Club at Intermix
  • J. Crew Navy Beaded Tank (tucked in)
  • J. Crew Gold and Crystal Chain Necklace
  • J. Crew Matchstick Destroyed Denim Skinny Jeans
  • Michael Kors Gold Watch and Gold Stud Earrings (hard to see in this pic!)
  • Coach Bag
  • Yosi Samra Gold Flats
How did you spend your mother's day?

What I Wore Weekends

It's been a busy weekend but I think its safe to say wedding season has begun! We have two (count it), two bridal showers this weekend - one on Long Island and on in NYC.

I dont usually like to do posts featuring moi, but my weekend escapades inspired me to start a new series on the blog called "What I Wore Weekends" where I break down my fav. looks from my weekend, how I wore them, accessorized them and where I went with them.

Its a challenge to have two bridal showers in a row, as I had to plan two cute (similar) looks to wear back to back. My challenges? Unusually warm weather in the New York area and skin thats peeling like woah after my sunburn from St. Lucia. I solved both by wearing cap sleeve sundresses and purchasing an Ann Taylor cardigan with elbow length sleeves (although it was too hot to wear today!)

Shower 1 was a beautiful Long Island shower at an adorable eatery out east. The shower was for a very good friend of mine from high school and I wanted to look put together yet still casual and country-ish. I opted for a Marc by Marc Jacobs cotton sundress in liliac from last season and accessorized it with the thin cardigan from Ann Taylor with crystal buttons, long layers of pearls and silver chains and blush colored ribbons, my bone "bow" sling back nude pumps and blush Marc Jacobs bag. I dont have a great picture yet but here is a snippet of the look below. I'm calling this look "vintage chic."
I'm on the right in both pics with my friend from HS, Lindsey...

For bridal shower #2, my college friend, Lindsay's, at the swanky Gramercy Park Hotel in NYC I opted for a bolder, more dressed up look. I paired my silk chiffon tiered Ombre Madison Marcus dress I got at Intermix two years ago and am still L-O-V-I-N-G with black CL pumps, my black Chanel quilted bag, and layers of gold and crystal J. Crew long necklaces and Michael Kors gold watch. I'm calling this one "city sophisticate."
On the Left in the first image and center in the second with friends Molly and Amber

All in all, I think both looks were appropriate and fun and very me! And now off to the bachelorette parties!
