Holiday Gift Guide 2010: For the Indie Queen

The indie girl. She's in the know on all things "cool" - listens to the best new bands, loves yoga and occasionally restricts herself to a raw food diet, has an off-beat sense of style thats quirky, vintage-inspired and always very unique. Maybe she is the little sister or cousin in college or that super sweet creative coworker on your gift list.

Get indies something unique, but useful, like a cozy scarf or gloves, pretty gemstone jewelry or a versatile leather bag. They'll appreciate the thoughtfulness and functionality of the gift.

A cross-body bag that can go dressy or casual is a great gift for the indie girl whose always bouncing around town! Marc By Marc Jacobs quirky sensibility is a great pick for the indie; she'll love the bohemian inspired look of the gold bird detailing on this design.

Alittle Less

She will covet this comfy, cozy ruched knit scarf from a favorite indie store, Anthropologie. The exquisite and unique construction make this a special gift.

Weekend Bling - 6/26 - 6/27

Today's Daily Bling isn't necessarily blingy and we admit we are SERIOUSLY pushing it with this one. However, hear us out. Headbands, like jewelry, add the finishing touch to any look and a good headband, like this super fun one above, has the ability to transform a simple, or maybe even "boring" look in your wardrobe to super fabulous! (and this is what got us loving jewelry and accessories so much in the first place...). Finally its super affordable, $28, and from one of our absolute favorite stores for accessories, Anthropologie.

The Rain-Bow necklace is equal parts girly and Caribbean-chic. We imagine it merchandised with some satin shorts, a button down ruffly tank and sky-high wedges for that vintage-girl cool feel. We'd also like to see it with a sexy bandage dress and platform pumps for a modern-day pin-up (ala Katy Perry) look.

Like we said this piece is affordable and transformative; a total must have in your accessories collection. You can find it here at Anthropologie.

Last Minute Mother's Day Gift Guide

If you are anything like us and you save all your errands for the weekends you may (or may have not) picked up a gift for mom. I always think jewelry makes a great gift, its personal and its something that no one needs but always wants. And isn't that what gift giving is all about anyway? Whenever I get a piece a jewelry and then wear it I think of who got it for me, for what reason and when. It's just got that sentimental value.

With Mother's Day around the corner we thought we'd make today's daily bling a very special selection of our favorite picks for whatever kind of mom you are shopping for!

The Hippie Mom

Help your zen-like mom embrace her innie hippie wild child with these tassled earrings from Anthropologie. Anthropologie Alluvial Fan Hoops are at Anthropologie.com for $108.

The Trendy Mom
Treat your hip mommy to a trend of the season - lucite - in a bright color that screams young and fun like this Alexis Bittar Gold Studded Hinge Cuff for $185 at AlexisBittar.com.

Daily Bling - Wednesday, May 5th

We came across this Anthropologie necklace and instantly needed to a double take. Is it cooper? Is it wooden? Is that metallic or natural? One thing is for sure.... we love it!

The Drifting Rings necklace actually is all of those things! The resin rings are flanked by two cooper beads on a gold cotton chain. We think its got a natural hippie vibe that would make this statement piece the perfect selection if you are headed to the beach soon. We'd love to see it paired with a white maxi dress or with some denim shorts and a chiffon tunic (ala Nicole Richie).

At $48 it will make a statement without breaking your bank. You can purchase it here at Anthropologie.

The Daily Bling - Thursday, April 8

We have found our new pair of go-to every day earrings! Where did we find them you may ask? Our new (old) favorite store - Anthropologie of course!

These were also a find at the Rochester Mall this weekend (haven't I mentioned before how much I love suburban malls?) while shopping with my mom. We both fell in love with these earrings just not quite sure why we didn't scoop them up! Well, at only $32 you know I'll be heading down to the Anthro in Flat Iron to grab them soon! They are so easy to wear and would look really, really pretty with a lot of our Spring neutral looks. In person they are very high in quality and look expensive. In fact, they remind me of a pair of Ippolita earrings that I have always lusted over!

We love the neutral version above, but they also come in blue and grey versions which are both equally gorg. To check them all out head over to Anthropologie's website.

Weekend Bling - 4/3 - 4/4

Happy Easter All! We were visting our brother upstate at college and unforuntatly didn't have the time to blog (gasp) but did have a lovely time with our family! We even had a little time to shop at the Rochester mall and bring back a beautiful bling for you all!

In lieu of an Easter basket my mom bought me a few goodies (okay including a chocolate bunny) including some super fab banana republic "rocker chic" chained earrings and the gorg Laurete Headband featured above! The Laureate Headband is from Anthropologie and is just another reminder why we need to shop their more often!! They have a truly adorable collection this spring and we really had to hold ourselves back from wanting to buy everything from the hippie chic sundresses to beaded belts and crystal drop earrings.

The Laureate headband is a true gem blinged out with gorg beaded and crystal detailing and super comfortable to wear. It was what we wore in place of the typical "Easter bonnet" today and looked pretty chic if we do say so ourselves...

Hope those who celebrated the holiday today had a lovely one!

The Daily Bling - Tuesday, March 2nd

Today's Daily Bling is truly a fantastical piece and I only wish the images could do it better justice. Last night, I was particularly excited to receive my Anthropologie Spring Catalog. I actually haven't shopped at Anthro in quite a long time, but it used to be a favorite shop of mine. I don't really know why I haven't thought to check them out these past few seasons - maybe I was sick of their "home spun/hippie look" or maybe the prices just seemed too high but either way I am back to being a fan - especially because of this truly FAB necklace.

I love the Raining Asters Necklace because it reminds me of something a mermaid would wear. All of the loose, floating gold and glistening embellishments seem like sea treasures woven together by hand. Its the kind of thing you would find in a treasure chest at the bottom of a sunken ship. Its almost other-worldly and ethereal in style and the leather and canvas straps only add to its vintage allure.

Of course this is not a piece you could wear every day, or even maybe more then once, but if you have a special occasion in mind or a simple dress you would like to revamp this Spring, this would be the perfect addition to your look. The Raining Asters Necklace is $228 and available on the Anthropolige website for purchase.
