Red Carpet to Real Life: Mila Kunis Oscar 2011

If you are looking for an ultra-feminine, pretty look that has just a hint of sex appeal, take inspiration from the gorgeous Mila Kunis in Elie Saab at this year's Oscars. Mila wore a lace and chiffon gown that was all about playing up the female charms. The lavender color was refreshing and effortless on the red carpet and simple dazzling details - an earring and single bangle - pulled it all together. A python clutch brought a modern, young vibe to the overall classy look.

To get this look for an event this Spring (thinking a beach wedding, bridal/baby shower or graduation), look for a dress in an effortless chiffon or lace fabric - the thiner and softer the material the better! This dress should let you wear it, rather than it wearing you - get what I'm saying? We like this J. Crew chiffon tiered dress - the color is just right and the chiffon has a light and airy quality. The low v-neck line and empire-like waist also mimics Mila's silloutte in an appropriate way!

Accessorize with crystal jewelry that has a feminine and heirloom quality and add just a touch of python for the edge - we love these "dressy" flip flops and crystal jewelry from Banana Republic!

Red Carpet to Real Life: Mandy Moore

It's no doubt the Oscar looks set trends for the season but how many real woman actually get to wear a ball gown in their daily lives? (besides for the random black tie wedding every year or so...) That said, I wanted to start a new series on BBB that will help you translate the top trends from the red carpet to your real life.

I'm deconstructing my favorite looks from the Oscars and showing you how to translate these looks into daily life looks for Spring.

In the first "edition" of runway to real life I'm breaking down one of my top three looks at the Oscar's - Mandy Moore in Monique Lhullier - and showing you how to get the look with J. Crew's new Spring line!

Mandy's look was all about modern vintage. Taking timeless sillouttes from the late 50s/60s and updating them with sparkle and glamour! To get this look we recommend looking for timeless casual wear items - a skinny cropped khaki (ala Audrey Hepburn), ballet flats and a feminine crew neck tee. The bling comes in with this shimmering "metallic gold" top, oversized crystal earrings and a pave and gold open link bracelet. Metallic flats bring a little more dazzle to the overall look.

The Breakdown:
All Available at J.Crew.com

- Shimmerveil Tee in Light Bronze

- Classic Cafe Capri Pant in British Khaki

- Twisted Flower Button Earrings

- Mini Pave Link Bracelet

- Lula Jacquered Ballet Flats in Gold

Oscar Fashion Round-Up

What did you guys think of last night's Oscars? As much as I love Anne Hathaway and James Franco, the show was a giant snooze! The Oscar broadcast is usually not the most exciting in general, but something was really lacking this year. Maybe it was the lack of production numbers Or the fact that James Franco looked like I had no idea what he was doing up there? Either way, I found it hard to get through.

On the the fashion note, I think there were some hits and some misses. I don't think that "Hollywood Glamour" you expect from the Oscar red carpet was really brought this year, although nobody really looked terrible. My biggest disappointment was the lack of jewelry. No statement necklaces, small little earrings and just a bangle or two was pretty much it. So sad for a jewelry lover like me!

Okay, so on to my picks. Pastel's ruled the carpet (do we spot a trend for Spring?) and we are absolutely loving them!

1) Mila Kunis in Elie Saab

Mila Kunis Elie Saab 2011 Academy Awards Oscars red carpet dress

Congrats Mila! You made it on my favorite looks list for each award show this season and definitely are my #1 pick for Oscars Best Dressed!! Mila literally rocked out award season and there literally isn't a look I wouldn't wear that she sported this season. This Elie Saab gown is no exception. I still literally can't get over how sexy yet feminine the lavender lace and chiffon gown is! Her dainty Neil Lane diamond and platinum earrings, bangle and cocktail ring gave made it ultra feminine. The nude python clutch gave it a modern edge. She is young after all!

2) Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa

Hailee is one to watch! While I am personally campaigning for her to be named the rough around the edges Katniss Everdeen in the forthcoming Hunger Games movie, I can't deny her absolute glamour and poise throughout all of award season! Her custom Marchesa creation (she actually helped design it) is perfectly age appropriate and just ethereal and gorgeous. She looks like the perfect little ballerina princess doesn't she? The adorable headband and topknot hairdo work perfectly with the ultra femme blush-colored dress. A heart shaped Fred Leighton ring and silver clutch with bow detailing make it young and fun!

3. Mandy Moore in Monique Lhullier

Our third pick, Mandy Moore, is quite a surprise because I really don't ever like her looks on the red carpet! I was pleasantly surprised with her Globes look and even more excited about her Oscars look! This nude and embellished Monique Lhullier gown has a vintage vibe (reminds me of something a glam Betty Draper would wear) and is really quite feminine and flirty. I am a sucker for the embellishments. The dress is almost an optical illusion (doesn't the top almost look painted on?) but it works! Oversized 10-carat Chopard pave diamond earrings and orange-red lips give this look a 1960s vibe thats just perf!

My honorable mentions, Halle Berry and Natalie Portman , also looked gorgeous. But I want to know - who had your favorite look?

The Daily Bling - Oscar Edition Day 5

Kate Winslet is always the epitome of hollywood glamour and it was no different at this year's Oscars. Kate's YSL dress was featured in one of the trend colors of the evening - regal metallic champagne.

But the real reason we LOVED Kate's look? Her necklace!!! I scoured that red carpet and I am pretty certain that Kate was the only major celeb at the awards who sported a statement necklace which really surprised me given the bold statement necklaces and chocker trend we have been seeing in ready to wear. I was so happy to see Kate actually do something different and pull it off flawlessly!

Kate's jewels are by classic designer, Tiffany & Co. Her statement necklace seen above had an antique feel and was encrusted with what else but BLING! Custom made and featuring gorg. 10 carat weight total yellow diamonds, this Tiffany & Co stunner is estimated at $2.5 Mill. This piece is only fit to be worn by a true movie star and we couldn't think of a better women than last year's Oscar star, great Kate!

The Daily Bling - Oscar Edition Day 4

Cameron Diaz was DEF. one of the best dressed at the Oscars this year. Her Oscar De Le Renta gown looked like something out of a chic fairytale and the golden metallic color complemented her gorgeous California Surfer Girl skin tone and blond locks like woah!

What we were most excited by though was her unexpected hoop earrings. We are so used to seeing our Tinseltown Oscar go-ers all blinged out, but instead Cameron decided to go with Cartier gold hoops with understated diamond pave details to complement her look.

The photo here doesn't totally do these earrings justice but here are all the dets. The beautifully crafted $49,500 Cartier Trinity hoops were made from white, yellow and rose gold and included diamond pavé detailing. We love, love, loooove these because they are hoops, because they are mixed metals, and because we don't normally see something so different on the red carpet. Cam also wore two Cartier cocktail rings - equally beautiful - but it was her unexpected hoops that really made her a stand-out for us!

The Daily Bling - Oscar Edition Day 3

We know, we know, we wanted Miley Cyrus to stand up straight too. But even though she slouched her way through the Oscars we think her look this year was really gorg and one of the best red carpet looks she has ever done. There, we said it!!

We loved her Jenny Packham dress because its young, on trend (looooove the bustier style) and has just the right amount sexy and bling (looooove the beading). But what we really loved about this look was the way she accessorized it! We are glad Miley went big and showcased two of the biggest trends in jewelry for the night - statement earrings and a diamond encrusted cuff. Note to Kristin Stewart: this is how you should have spiced up your Monique Lhuillier look.

First let's discuss the earrings. We love that she went with a floral look, because its young and really freshens up the look of her dress. We also LOVE the combo of the gold diamond crusted base with the red ruby center. This was the perfect way to add just the right touch of color to an otherwise beige look.

Second, there is this HAWT cuff! I mean really - we are basically drooling over this thing. Completly blinged out, thick and a little rock-n-roll (Miley is a singer after all) this cuff totally adds a little "danger" to her look without taking away from the femininity of the dress' silhouette. We love the piece that comes down, and almost snakes around her hand and we really, really love how her ruby antique-style cocktail ring and nail color tie the entire look together!

After an awards show that had many looking under-accessorized or over-accessorized we are glad to see Miley hitting the mark exactly right from dress, to jewels to even nails!

The Daily Bling - Oscar Edition Day 2

As Randy from American Idol would say Amanda Seyfried's look was "just okay for me". The dress, although a gorg Armani Prive, just seemed like too much for her small frame, and I think her hair slicked back didnt help much. That being said, she still looked beautiful and fresh.

On to the good. The real good! Her layer and layers of Lorraine Schwartz bangles were chic, a little edgy and young - just like she is.

We loved the layer of three mixed metals and colored diamond/gemstone details on each of the bangles and think this is definitely a fun look you could recreate at home easily with costume jewelry pieces. We are definitely going to try this look the next time we go out out with our girls but also think this could be equally chic for a black tie occasion ala Amanda here.

The Daily Bling - Oscars Edition Day 1

For this week's daily bling we are doing something alittle different! Every day we will feature one of our favorite Oscar's jewelry looks. The chick who stood out the most for her accessorization that we choose to feature her on day one? Best Actress Nominee Carey Mulligan in Prada with Fred Leighton jewels!

The gorgeous and talented stylist to the stars (and an old work friend of ours many moons ago) Nicole Chavez styled Carey and we love how she made her look as young and fresh as she is! When so many of the younger stars tend to go for a more a mature, serious look for the Oscars, Carey kept it young and on-trend in her whimsical Prada gown with Swarovski encrusted detailing and to-the-shoulder diamond sparklers by Fred Leighton! We love that Carey took a risk with bold jewelry while staying on trend sporting one of the key trends of the night - statement earrings! The huge earrings off-set her pixie cut in a good way and all together the look is young and fun!

PS: In case your wondering those FAB shoes and clutch are also Prada :)

Oscars 2010 Red Carpet Hits

I have been live tweeting during the red carpet but in case you don't have twitter, I wanted to share a quick post to wrap up my fav. trends and celeb looks on the red carpet this year!

Statement Earrings and Blingy, Layered Cuffs were the accessory trends of the night. We loved Rachel McAdams earrings, Miley's earring/cuff combo, Amanda Seyfried and SJP's cuffs to name a few.

Another huge trend we saw was pinks and berry hues. We loved Vera Farmiga (Up in The Air) in her berry Marchesa gown with complementing oversized pearl earrings. In the blush category - our fav. color for Spring and a huge red carpet trend - we loved Anna Kendrick in Elie Saab, also from Up in The Air. We also loved J. Lo's light metallic pink Armani Prive gown - she described it as having the WOW factor and we definitely agree!

We will have more Oscar red carpet coverage this week so make sure to check back!!
