Daily Bling - Thursday, November 4

Whiting & Davis Checkerboard Cross Body Bag

So, this may not be a piece of jewelry per se but we definitely think this flashy bag is bling-worthy. This striped metal mesh crossbody bag from Whiting & Davis is a nod to the 80s and a whole lot of fun.

We love a good "blingy" accessory for cold winter nights and especially as we enter the Holiday season. We think this is the perfect accessory to spice up any night out on the town look. The detachable strap makes it a great versatile bag. It could go date night to black tie in an instant. At $85 it also makes a great holiday gift for your bff or sister!

You can find the Whiting & Davis Checkerboard Crossbody Bag at ShopBop.

Weekend Bling - 8/28 - 8/29

Deco Slide Lock
Today's Daily Bling is in honor of tomorrow night's Emmy Awards. Judith Leiber is undoubtedly the go to designer for the clutches we see all the starlets on the red carpet wearing season after season. Her unique crystal designs are loved by celebs and socialites alike and although these clutches are just a dream for us (they go from anywhere upwards of $1k) they certainly scream Hollywood drama.

We predict a young Hollywood star (Lea Michelle from Glee perhaps?) would rock something along the lines of this new "Deco Clutch" from Leiber herself tomorrow evening. The golden and black art deco crystal pattern is young and trendy but still classicly Judith Leiber and red carpet appropriate.

We will be live tweeting all of our favorite looks from the red carpet during tomorrow's red carpet at @HollyBerness so make sure to follow!

Double Lust...The Hippie Edition

It's been quite a while that a shoe or a bag has come across our radar and was so lust-at-first-sight worthy that we felt the need to do a Shoe Lust or Bag Lust post. Shocking, no? Maybe its because we are in that "in-between" part of the year where we are getting a little sick of the Spring/Summer collections but not yet in the mood to think about Fall. Whatever the reason we are glad to say the "draught" has ended and we officially have both a BAG and SHOE lust this week.

Both styles we are loving have that California-cool, laid back mentality and tap into our inner hippie chic style. We especially love to embrace this style in the summer time and what better to be a mid-summer style pick me up then these two, we ask?

We love these Venus Fringe "moccasin" inspired sandals by Koolaburra in the chestnut shade featured above and think they'd look super cute with a pair of short denim shorts and tank ala Kristen Cavallari (who was seen wearing them just this way). They are laid back, fun and are the perfect summer sandal to take you into the Fall season. At $130 they are also not out of the budget range for a cute pair of memorable, scene-stealing shoes.

Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Embroidered Folli Bag in Black
We love just about everything Cynthia Vincent has been doing lately and this Ikat inspired cross-body is no exception to that rule. We love mixing colbalt blue and black and think this bag has just the right amount of color and sass to make it a stand-out in the crowd yet wearable quality. We'd wear it with basically everything and just like the sandals think its the perfect Summer-to-Fall transition piece. Finally, and it has to be said, we just can't get enough of the cross-body style and if we buy any new bag soon a cross-body style will be it. At just under $200 we think it won't be a purchase you'll regret.

Both of these styles are available at the ultra chic boutique Singer-22.

To Sample Sale, or Not to Sample Sale: Rebecca Minkoff Edition

Spending money in New York is awfully easy. Not only are our rent's high, our groceries more expensive and having a parking spot considered a true luxury but there are all sorts of other other tempting, expensive side effects of being a NYer. One of these is the seasonal sample sale. With nearly every top designer having a sample sale after every season its hard for the fashion-obsessed to save money. Even though you are getting a deal technically, the sample sale makes it hard to resist the shopping itch and such is true with this week's highlight: the Rebecca Minkoff seasonal sale.

We resisted the urge to go to the RM sale all week even though we have been dying to get our hand's on one of her bags (this was hard to do with all the chatter about how awesome the sale was on Twitter). With a busy work week it was nearly impossible to get there anyway, but alas on the last day (today) I finally caved. And let me tell you I wanted everything! Neon cross-body's, studded clutches, and MABs galore. Buying just one was hard enough. I think I ended up making the right choice- I scooped up this lovely Black Darling Bag, picture below.

I needed an x-large black bag for work purposes, which is why I went with the Darling. It's just a little rocker with the gold zipper detailing and fringe. It's not over the top or too trendy, but still super cute. I really wanted to buy this super hot grey mini MAB with neon pink detailing as well - but alas I couldn't justify the purchase and decided to buy what I needed instead of what I just wanted. We got it for about 60% off which we say is pretty good. What do you think of the purchase?

FEED the World, Make It a Better Place

Lauren Bush of FEED and Ellen Gustafson of UNICEF

On Thursday night we got invited to the launch event of the new FEED Guatemala bags, exclusive to Lord & Taylor, whose proceeds will help UNICEF take on the hunger issue in Guatemala. The wonderful and (gorgeous) Lauren Bush, who is co-founder and CEO of FEED, hosted the event and helped lead the creative direction of the project.

Now, we know everyone has done a charity tote by now so you're probably thinking why should I buy this one? Well, as Lauren put it, we need to be helping our neighbors in need in Latin America. Did you know that in Guatemala (only a few hours from NYC by plane) nearly 23% of children over three months and under five years of age suffered from general malnutrition? For every “FEED 1 Guatemala” pouch and “FEED 3 Guatemala” bag sold at Lord & Taylor stores in the U.S. and online, FEED will donate $3.50 or $10.50 respectively to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to help support UNICEF’s nutrition programs in Guatemala. Now that's hot!

Secondarily, but important enough these bags are tres chic! I loved the global print (so in, by the way, for Spring 2010) and think its even cooler that the local men and women in Guatemala designed and created these bags themselves. You can't get more authentic then that. They come in a variety of fun, bright colored patterns but our fav? This pink and blue rainbow version we picked up. So instead of buying one of those designer totes trying to rip off the global look - grab this real global tote and rock it to make a difference!

And how cute is the little pouch! We are going to use it as makeup bag inside the tote and take both with us to the beach this summer.

So ladies, be philanthropy friendly - we promise it will look good on you! The “FEED 1 Guatemala” pouch and “FEED 3 Guatemala” tote cost $19 and $39, respectively. Both can be purchased at Lord & Taylor stores in the US and online. For more information check out www.lordandtaylor.com/feed.

P to the S (Full Disclosure): We were gifted these totes for checking out the event. But we do plan on buying some as gifts for all our summer b-day buddies!

The Daily Bling - Thursday, May 6

I know, I know. Another non-jewelry item daily bling. But hear us out. We just weren't fully inspired by any traditional jewelry pieces today (gasp) and it is a crossbody bag so it will ornate your look at the very least!! Finally, we just couldn't resist featuring this too sweet for words vintage inspired find from our NEW favorite website obsession - Nasty Gal.

We know the website name sounds, well, funny but believe us if you haven't yet been to ShopNastyGal.com you better get your butt over there! We were recently introduced to this amaze vintage and vintage inspired e-shop via The Coveted and can't get enough. We wanted to order EVERYTHING on this site. But the good news is most things we wanted were actually affordable for once!

Take today's bling for example, the Bonbon Mini Pouch. Its as sweet as a bonbon and at a price we can stomach - it's only $80! We picture Katy Perry rocking this one but think you could get away with it too! This metallic gold crossbody bag is embellished with a rainbow of pastel crystal accents and features a luxe looking gold chain link strap. We think its would like oh-so-cute on a pastel silk jumper with some wedges for a night out on the town or with one of spring's bustier style dresses if you really want to put on the charm.

This is just one of the many super cool finds on Nasty Gal - so please don't let the website's name deter you and see for yourselves!

We are definitly feeling this "global trend" for Spring and absolutely love the idea of incorporating some of the fun patterns and bright color and beaded jewelry we have been seeing into our current Spring looks. How do you incorporate this trend without buying a bunch of printed dresses that most likely will be out next year? Well, with accessories of course! Why not embrace the global look by pairing a great printed tote or layered bright bangles with some of the "brighter" colored looks we bought last spring or just your favorite simple white or black jersey dress? Rachel Zoe for QVC

Rachel Zoe to me is like a god of fashion. You can say what you want about her... she's too skinny, she's too crazy, she spends too much money but honestly NO ONE quite has style like Rachel does. She single handedly started the whole "boho chic" craze in America and transformed the careers and styles of some top celeb style icons like Nicole Richie, Mischa Barton and Anne Hathaway.

That being said I am so, so, sooo sad because I am a little less than impressed with her new line for QVC. She debuted some of her new Spring pieces and favorite regulars in the line yesterday on QVC and to be honest there was very little we were super tempted to pick up the phone and order in. There were a few "key pieces" however that we do love. Highlights below:
Rachel Zoe Large Flap Front Clutch with Chain Trim in Burnt Sienna/ $96
Rachel Zoe Pave Crystals & Cachoban Drop Earrings/ $64.50

Rachel Zoe Foldover Messenger Bag in Pewter/ $131

Rachel Zoe Geometric Link Bead Necklace/ $124.50

What do you think of Rachel's new collection? Head over to QVC.com to check it out and let us know. Super fab or super drab?

I'm a little bit rock-n-roll...

Foley and Corinna Wrapped Chain Leather and Mesh Cross Body Bag

Guys, I am OBSESSED with this bag. I'm seriously dying over it and really, really, reallllly wish I had it for my trip to Los Angeles this week. I'm going to LA for work and I will be meeting some celebrity girl rockers while I am out there as part of what I'm doing for one of the brands I rep so I want to look a little edgy, but still me. I leave on Wednesday and I am having a real hard time finding the inspiration to pack and an inspiration piece to sort of shape everything I am going to bring. If only this bag was in my possession would I have all the answers...

You can find this Foley and Corinna gem at Bloomingdales and here are all its dets:
  • Single wrapped shoulder strap with tassel detail
  • Top-zip closure, gold-tone hardware
  • Lined. Leather. Imported
  • 10"W x 9"H x 1"D
  • 22" drop
I am so into this bag its not even funny. Its got everything I love and need. Its black, its got gold hard rockin' details, and it can be worn cross body which when you are running around like a crazy person for work, SERIOUSLY comes in handy. But its $325 - not too bad at all for a nice bag but more then we should be spending right now. And we do have so many bags. And we even have a black cross body bag! And alas we just don't need it....... Sigh.

What do you guys think of my new bag obsession? Is it worth it??

Spring Formal Wear Reinvited! Pink and Red Inspiration

Remember that really pretty and unexpected look we loved that Audrey Tautou rocked at the BAFTA's? The gorg pink dress with all red accessories? We never thought we'd love the way red and pink would look together so much until we saw her rock it and were reminded of it again when we were doing some "online window shopping" the other night on ShopBop.com and came across this awesome Rebecca Minkoff Pink Studded Clutch.

We know alot of girls out there are starting to think about Spring weddings, formals, and Prom. Taking a cue from Audrey's BAFTA look and drawing inspiration from the Rebecca Minkoff Clutch we thought - wouldnt this clutch look awesome with a red cocktail dress for these sort of upcoming events? Here are ideas of how you can bring this look to life for Spring social events. How chic!

Here is the breakdown:
  • Look #1: Rebecca Taylor Zip Front Dress
  • Look #2: Juicy Couture Strapless Dress
  • Look #3: Laila Azhar One Shoulder Cascade Dress
  • Look #4: Alice and Oliva Andrea Bustier Dress
The dresses and clutch are all available at ShopBop. On a side note, we just had to note that the clutch would also work just as nice with jeans and more dressy top for a night out with friends.

What do you think of these red and pink looks? Would you rock a similar style for your Spring social events?

We Heart Anya Hindmarch

Every day on our way to work we pass this adorable little Anya Hindmarch store and admire her new Spring Collection. Our favorite bag from the collection is her "Gracie" bag featured in the Tan colored leather, above. Its a shoulder bag, smaller than I usually wear but there is just something so luxe about this bag that I find myself developing a little obsession.

First of all I love the London sensibility of Anya Hindmarch - her designs truly capture the London I fell in love with when I lived their for a semester in college. Equal parts classic and trendy with a bag from Anya you always feel instyle but you don't feel like you are sporting something you will only get one season wear out of.

Here are the dets on the Gracie Bag:
  • Pleated leather shoulder bag with twist clasp fastening to the front, and leather and chain mix handle.
  • Calf skin leather in a tan/camel color
  • Dimensions: 28x21x9 cm
  • Price: About $650
We'd love to see this bag paired with an all white look for early spring. White jeans and a flowy top or a cute, flirty mini dress would both make this bag pop!

My new (old) favorite mini bag

So this is a long over due topic I have been wanting to write about. In fact, based upon my experience shopping on opening day at the NYC 59th street location, I have seriously thought about starting a blog just to post about the fab finds I picked up from the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection. Now, I know this is old news. And you probably heard about it months ago from plenty of other people. But let me explain why its still a relevant collection for me. I give you exhibit A: my Jimmy Choo for H&M zebra leather clutch. I don't know what the official name of it was, but it should be PERFECTION in a EVENING BAG.

Let me tell you why I love it. It's a little bit rocker, its alittle bit sexy, its a lot of look in a small package. Its got animal print + studs, plus gold chain strap. I could totally see my favorite reality star, Kim Kardashian rocking this with one of those sexy bandage dresses that are showing up in her Bebe Collection. I also have rocked this with jeans and a white tee-shirt and it totally looked chic.

Although you can't get your hands on this bag anymore (sad face) lucky for you I have spotted a few alternatives out there and saksfifthavenue.com had a ton of fun ones to choose from in their "mini bag" section. See link below: http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductArray.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374306443933&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395222441&bmUID=1266490956012&use_parent=1&SECSLOT=LN-Mini+Bags

I'm partial to the Kate Spade Quilted Leather Lauralee Bag (love pewter accents) and the Carlos Falchi (huge fan of his!) Embossed Micro-fiber Mini Shoulder Bag. If budget isn't an issue then I'd definitely go for the Dolce & Gabanna Miss Martini Patchwork Pony. Sexy!

(From Left to Right, Kate Spade, Carlos Falchi, Dolce & Gabanna, Rebecca Minkoff)

Which mini bag is your fav?
