Daily Bling - Thursday, May 28

Braided Bracelet

Today's Daily Bling is a Gilt Groupe find by designer Chan Luu, who is known for her unique woven and beaded bracelets. These leather woven bracelets are all the rage right now, but we decided to choose this one to feature because a) we love the loose braided construction, it sets it apart from the other wrap around bracelets we've seen b) purple is our favorite color, so selfishly we are drawn to this mix of purple beads.

This bracelet is normally $204 (I know, I know but in fairness Chan Luu is the master at this style and every celeb from Lady Gaga to Nicole Richie has been seen in this collection). The good news is you can currently scoop it up on Gilt for $98. We know that's still expensive but if you have admired Chan Luu as we have for some time, this is a really great price for one of her designs.

On a side note, I know posts have been sparse this week but between the boyf's bday (which is tomorrow!!), my coworker's last week at the office and my upcoming trip to Vegas I have been crazed! I am actually leaving for my friend Lindsay's bachelorette tomorrow so while I'm away for the Memorial Day Holiday I will be on a BBB hiatus. Don't worry though I'll be back, and probably with a lot of Las Vegas inspiration, on Tuesday!

Have a safe and fun long weekend!

Daily Bling - Wednesday, May 26

We are absolutely loving Jasmine Pennama Jewelry - a unique line by native NYer and now Los Angeles transport, Jasmine P. herself. We recently found her line via twitter (again, I love how twitter connects me to all things fabulous) and upon viewing the pieces fell in love.

Our favorite piece in the line? Today's Daily Bling - the Carrie Cuff - featured above. The Carrie Cuff is comprised of 24K Fused Hammered Gold and features a gorg. oversized black Agate stone as its centerpiece. We love cuff's and agate stones this season and put them together? Perfection! We think this piece would look absolutely fab. with just about anything but would love to see it shine on a simple outfit -we are thinking black skinny jeans and a white tank.

You can find out more about the line and this piece at Jasmine Pennamma's website.

How I Wore It Weekend

This weekend I had a lovely family dinner to attend at the yummy and gorgeous Prime Restaurant on Long Island in honor of my uncle's 60th bday. What did I decide to wear?

  • White Ruched Sleeve H&M Tee Shirt
  • Ann Taylor Loft Grey Embellished Cardigan
  • Aqua Silver & Lucite Statement Necklace
  • J. Crew Poplin Wednesday Skirt
  • Silver and Lucite Nine West Open Toe Pumps (3 seasons old and in again!)
  • Marc Jacobs Classic Blake Leather Bag in Natural (not shown in this pic)
I'm pictured here with my chic cousin Lauren who is wearing the gorg. Free People Lace Layered Skirt. How cute is she?

Weekend Bling - 5/22 - 5/23

Today's Daily Bling is both gorgeous and unique as well as super-duper affordable. We found Kellyssima's jewelry line on Etsy via Twitter (don't you just love how much you learn and find out about through Twitter?) and we have just fell in love the line's one-of-a-kind vintage allure.

We love today's bling called the "Wrapped Up" ring not only because its gorg but also because of its unique construction. Its made up of a vintage faux pearl cameo and brass spoon. That's right, a spoon people! We love the faux pear detailing and heart shapped end of the spoon the wraps around the top and lays right below the knuckle. It's so fem and so funky - it's just a very special piece.

And what's better? It's only $13 dollar on Kellyssima's Etsy Shop. You must check this out and the rest of this super cool vintage inspired line!

Daily Bling - Friday, May 21

Maybe its that purple is my favorite color or maybe it was the Caribbean chic vibe of the Real Housewives of NY last night or maybe its even my new found obsession with crystals (but not in a creepy Spencer Pratt sorta way) but I am absolutely in LOVE with these gorgeous, luxurious, amethyst and agate earrings from Devon Leigh.

I've talked about designer Devon Leigh's genius work with gemstones and druzzy stones before, so I wont harp on it again but all I can say is that if you love natural looking stone work and hippie-chic southwestern inspired jewelry you MUST check out this line. We would absolutely love to wear these earrings all summer long - at the beach, for summer weddings, out at night with friends and even to the office.

These gorg. Devon Leigh stunners are available for purchase on her website for $355.

Daily Bling - Thursday, May 20

It's been a while since we have checked out Modcloth so we thought we would peruse the site yesterday evening in search of some inspiration for today's Daily Bling. Modcloth is known for their literally unique and one-of-a-kind indie designs and just as we suspected they didn't disappoint in the inspiration department!

We love today's Daily Bling - cheekily named the Twist of Fate Bracelet which is currently on sale at Modcloth for $14.99. What a deal, right!? This center-clasp bracelet features woven black suede with brass detailing and we actually think it would make a fab. complimentary piece to the Vanessa Mooney Elephant Necklace we featured yesterday. We'd like to see it paired with the necklace and worn with a bohemian sheer floral-printed dress and some open-toe clogs or booties to achieve that hippie chic vibe but also think it would look equally cute with your go-to lbd and some patent-leather pumps.

Daily Bling - Wednesday, May 19

We are loving this zen-friendly daily bling by designer Vanessa Mooney. If you haven't heard of Vanessa Mooney, you should! She is a fairly new designer on the scene who also happens to be the great-grandaughter of Harry Warner, of the famed Hollywood Warner Bros, and is therefore heavily influenced by Old Hollywood glamour and the bohemian vibe of her artistic family.

We love the Elephant Necklace mostly because we love elephants! Elephant's are thought to be good luck in many cultures which is one of the reasons why we love to wear them (more unique and personal than a shamrock for us personally). The other reason? They are cute! Animal Charms are very hot in jewelry this season and we think this long charm necklace (27 inches long to be exact) would like great with pretty much any look. We definitely see it as the perfect piece to wear with a casual look especially like jean shorts and a flowy tank top on the weekends or even to the beach with your fav. bathing suit.

The Vanessa Mooney Elephant Necklace is $50 and available at ShopBop.

Daily Bling - Tuesday, May 18

My favorite reality show sisters - The Kardashians - debuted their new line of jewelry under the Virgins, Saints and Angels collection at Kitson in Los Angeles this week and as you can imagine we were very, very excited to check out the line. Their new line is said to be inspired by the girl's Armenian hertige with every piece symbolic in some way.

Overall, we are sad to say we are less than impressed with the line. The collection has a very gothic feel which we def. like but the pieces are a bit overpriced for costume jewelry and there are only two real stand outs in the line of about 12 pieces that we are lusting over. One is naturally, today's daily bling, the Beaded Magdelena Necklace shown above. The black bead and chain necklace is adorned with a Swarovski crystals and looks super chic on the adorable Kourtney Kardashian, below.

The other AWESOME piece in the collection is most definitely Double Point Cuff but at $345 its out of the question for us. You can check out their entire jewelry collection at Kitson online including today's daily bling which retails at $198.

We normally die for the Kardashian girls style which is why it saddens us to say that we think we can only give this new collection a B+. However we'd love to hear your thoughts on the Kardashian's new jewelry line. What do you think?

Daily Bling - Monday, May 17

We spot a trend! It seems skinny drop earrings are making a huge comeback on the red carpet this month, they have been seen all over Cannes (see Camilla Bell, Salma Hayek and Kate Beckinsale) and we think its a nice change-up to the usually hoop or gemstone chandelier. Inspired by the drop earring we bring you today's daily bling - these uber chic Kyler Artisan Glass Nugget Chain earrings via Max & Chloe.

We think these gold and glass bead stunners, which dangle 2 1/2 inches long, would look super sophisticated with an evening look for a summer wedding or party. We love the amber colored bead detailing justaposed with the mesh dangle. It's a little sweet with a lot of sass.

Make sure to check these out at Max & Chloe - we think you are gonna love them!

To Sample Sale, or Not to Sample Sale: Rebecca Minkoff Edition

Spending money in New York is awfully easy. Not only are our rent's high, our groceries more expensive and having a parking spot considered a true luxury but there are all sorts of other other tempting, expensive side effects of being a NYer. One of these is the seasonal sample sale. With nearly every top designer having a sample sale after every season its hard for the fashion-obsessed to save money. Even though you are getting a deal technically, the sample sale makes it hard to resist the shopping itch and such is true with this week's highlight: the Rebecca Minkoff seasonal sale.

We resisted the urge to go to the RM sale all week even though we have been dying to get our hand's on one of her bags (this was hard to do with all the chatter about how awesome the sale was on Twitter). With a busy work week it was nearly impossible to get there anyway, but alas on the last day (today) I finally caved. And let me tell you I wanted everything! Neon cross-body's, studded clutches, and MABs galore. Buying just one was hard enough. I think I ended up making the right choice- I scooped up this lovely Black Darling Bag, picture below.

I needed an x-large black bag for work purposes, which is why I went with the Darling. It's just a little rocker with the gold zipper detailing and fringe. It's not over the top or too trendy, but still super cute. I really wanted to buy this super hot grey mini MAB with neon pink detailing as well - but alas I couldn't justify the purchase and decided to buy what I needed instead of what I just wanted. We got it for about 60% off which we say is pretty good. What do you think of the purchase?

Weekend Bling - 5/15 - 5/16

We are seeing these horizontal charms everywhere and at first we weren't sure how we felt. Of course this new jewelry trend is cute but is it needed? I mean, do we really need another charm necklace in our lives? Well, the answer is most probably no, but unfort. charms are sort of like potato chips. You can't just have one.

We first saw these horizontal crosses when we were in LA in March and now we see them popping up everywhere - not just in necklaces but in rings, bracelets and even earrings. We have to admit there is something really cool and unique about the style and what we love even more about today's bling - Jennifer Zeuner Mini Horizontal Cross Necklace - is the simplicity of the style. You can easily layer this piece with other charm necklaces (our fav. look) and pair with all your favorite statement earrings and cuffs of the season.

We are partial to the necklace in silver as shown, but it also comes in gold. It's 16 inches in length and available at Singer-22 online for $110.

Daily Bling - Friday, May 14

So, I was totally inspired by the Real Housewive's of NY when choosing today's daily bling. I have said it before, but I'll say it again, I am completely in awe of the Countess Luanna Delesseps style, and although I am not in awe of her singing ability (sorry Countess, I know that the rules of manners say if I don't have anything nice to say I shouldn't say anything at all...), I am a huge fan of her style! Among other things, Luann always is accessorized to the max and has on the most gorg. southwestern inspired jewelry.

This gorg. Chan Luu Necklace is 48 inches long in length and whether you pair it will an all black look a la the Countess in the recording studio or with a white maxi dress in the summer months you will look super chic. Turqoiuse is timeless for sure but a unique piece like this is also very current.

You can steal this super hot necklace at Nordstrom's for $195. Don't you just love?!

Daily Bling - Thursday, May 13

Sometimes you just need a little pick me up. Not something too extravagant or pricey. Just something to put you in a good mood and lift your spirits. That's what I LOVE about accessories - and especially cheapie, super cute accessories like this bangle from Forever 21.

We think the Forever 21 Floral Painted Bamboo Bracelet would make a sweet edition to any Spring look. We'd especially like to see it paired with an off-white lace dress or top and skirt and some sky high wedges (like maybe or go to Michael Kors pair from last season). We could also imagine it as the finishing touch to one of those "mixed patterns" looks we are seeing for Spring. We are imagining it with a cropped striped top and pair of silk mini shorts to get this vintage inspired style.

You can't go wrong with this little mood booster! The bangle is available on F21's website for only $5.80.

Daily Bling - Wednesday, May 12

This bracelet by Mulberry is FABULOUS-NESS! Equal parts cutesy and edgy its definitely one of the more unique leather-based bracelets we have seen for Spring...

Ordinarily we wouldn't really think of this bracelet as a "spring/summer" sort of piece but have you noticed how so many of the brands are showing edgier designs in darker colors for the season? We personally feel that this year a bracelet like this could be season-less and just love the idea of pairing it with all sorts of cute outfits as our new signature piece. We didn't even know the classic leather goods company Mulberry made jewelry but we are certainly glad we found out!

You can find this Mulberry Cheetah Ruby Bracelet at ShopBop for $90.

Get Shoes like Kim Kardashian

Truth be told, I am sorta a sucker for Kim Kardashian. Make it the whole Kardashian clan actually. I just like them okay, don't judge! Anyway, needless to say I decided to join ShoeDazzle, the shoe society Kim backs which is basically a shoe of the month club. I trust Kim's style and decided to use my blog as an excuse of why I had to join and "test" the shoes. I am pleasantly surprised to say my whim was a good one because I got my first pair of shoe's today and they are super, super cute!

ShoeDazzle is really easy to join and a great concept if you ask me. You simply go to their website, answer a few questions about your personal style (a touch I must say I both appreciated and thought was fun), and get a selection of about 4 -5 shoe styles to choose from a month. It's only $39 dollars a month to join and you can skip a month and not pay the charge if you don't feel inclined to choose a shoe or cancel at any time. So, I thought why not right?

The shoe I picked this month are called the Stevie, above. They are described as a gladiator/thong and although the leather is faux they are surprisingly super soft and comfortable! I love the little wooden wedge and zipper back detailing - they look surprising high end. I needed a new pair of gold gladiators anyway and for less than $40 I figured I couldn't go wrong!

And for some reason (and I don't know if they do this every month or just your first) they also sent me a free graphic scarf! They came packaged in a really nice high-end shoe box that even included a shoe bag.

So, in conclusion so far so good with ShoeDazzle! I'lll let you know my thoughts on next month's purchase and if I decide to continue my membership upon rocking my new cute Stevie's around town! Thanks Kim K - I just KNEW I could trust your style :)

The Daily Bling - Tuesday, May 11

FUN! That's what today's daily bling is all about. We love PONO jewelry because the designs are flirty, fabulous, feminine all while being well-crafted and unique. Designer Joan Goodman's use of resin defies odds and we absolutely love the candy colored resin necklaces, bracelets and earrings shown in her Spring collection.

We choose today's daily bling, the Pono Resin Chain Link Necklace in Orchid, because quite frankly it makes us happy. It reminds us of something we'd play dress up in as a child but in a good way! We'd love to pair this feminine necklace with something really simple like a plain black shift dress or skinny jeans and a white tank top to really draw attention to its artwork and playful flavor!

You can find this Pono Necklace and many other of their fun pieces for Spring at Fragments for $160.

The Daily Bling - Monday, May 10

We have always admired the super chic style of the Olsen Twins (post Full House and straight to dvd sing-along videos that is). Such unique fashion plates, the twins should be credited for creating this whole "rock chic/downtown cool" style we are seeing now. We absolutely love their fashion line - Elizabeth and James - and if it wasn't so pricey we'd probably stock our closet up with all of their pieces. They are now adding fine jewelry to the mix in their Elizabeth & James jewelry line and we love, love, love what we are seeing!

Diamonds are traditionally thought of as girly or dressy but when featured in the Elizabeth and James line they are just too cool! We are digging the unique use of diamonds in all of their designs but especially love today's bling the Double Chevron Diamond Ring. We love the open center and severe edges of the piece as well as the discrete use of a little bling bling. Sterling Silver with .05 carat diamond weight, this super cool ring makes a statement at a pretty reasonable cost - $150. Steal a little of that Olsen signature style - go to ShopBop.com to check today's bling and all of the other chic pieces in their fine jewelry line.

How I Wore It Weekend

Happy Mother's Day All! Today I spent the day on Long Island with my mom, grandma, aunt and cousin (and the men too) to celebrate the day! It was unusually chilly in NYC and quite a shock since its been about 80 degrees lately. Decided to play it casual cool in one of our fav. cardis - a navy striped nautical piece by Yacht Club we got at Intermix almost 4 years ago! I paired it with some of my J. Crew favs, new Yosi Samra flats and out gold Coach cross-body bag.
Look from Head to Toe:
  • Nautical Striped Cardigan, Yacht Club at Intermix
  • J. Crew Navy Beaded Tank (tucked in)
  • J. Crew Gold and Crystal Chain Necklace
  • J. Crew Matchstick Destroyed Denim Skinny Jeans
  • Michael Kors Gold Watch and Gold Stud Earrings (hard to see in this pic!)
  • Coach Bag
  • Yosi Samra Gold Flats
How did you spend your mother's day?

FEED the World, Make It a Better Place

Lauren Bush of FEED and Ellen Gustafson of UNICEF

On Thursday night we got invited to the launch event of the new FEED Guatemala bags, exclusive to Lord & Taylor, whose proceeds will help UNICEF take on the hunger issue in Guatemala. The wonderful and (gorgeous) Lauren Bush, who is co-founder and CEO of FEED, hosted the event and helped lead the creative direction of the project.

Now, we know everyone has done a charity tote by now so you're probably thinking why should I buy this one? Well, as Lauren put it, we need to be helping our neighbors in need in Latin America. Did you know that in Guatemala (only a few hours from NYC by plane) nearly 23% of children over three months and under five years of age suffered from general malnutrition? For every “FEED 1 Guatemala” pouch and “FEED 3 Guatemala” bag sold at Lord & Taylor stores in the U.S. and online, FEED will donate $3.50 or $10.50 respectively to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to help support UNICEF’s nutrition programs in Guatemala. Now that's hot!

Secondarily, but important enough these bags are tres chic! I loved the global print (so in, by the way, for Spring 2010) and think its even cooler that the local men and women in Guatemala designed and created these bags themselves. You can't get more authentic then that. They come in a variety of fun, bright colored patterns but our fav? This pink and blue rainbow version we picked up. So instead of buying one of those designer totes trying to rip off the global look - grab this real global tote and rock it to make a difference!

And how cute is the little pouch! We are going to use it as makeup bag inside the tote and take both with us to the beach this summer.

So ladies, be philanthropy friendly - we promise it will look good on you! The “FEED 1 Guatemala” pouch and “FEED 3 Guatemala” tote cost $19 and $39, respectively. Both can be purchased at Lord & Taylor stores in the US and online. For more information check out www.lordandtaylor.com/feed.

P to the S (Full Disclosure): We were gifted these totes for checking out the event. But we do plan on buying some as gifts for all our summer b-day buddies!
