I'm Back! London Style Recap!

Hope everyone had a fab Thanksgiving! London was fabulous and I am happy to report I even got to pick-up a few awesome items at some of my favorite London shopping stops - Top Shop, Portabello Market and Mango. I also discovered some new fab places like All Saints Spitafields and Sweaty Betty, an adorable Lulu Lemon-esq fitness store.

How did I wear it? Warm! It was super cold so it was all about the layering. Heavy Fair-Isle sweaters, tall boots, leg warmers and fur galore! In fact, it was nearly impossible to avoid the fair-isle look everywhere I went. It's a top trend for the season! Sequin and lace details femmed-up some of the heavier sweaters I coveted at Top Shop too.

In the purse department, its all about the cross-body bag across the pond as well and the more vintage the better. Expect fur on all accessories too, including outerwear headbands and earmuffs, boots and booties, and even bags.

Here are some pics of some of my favorite looks from the trip and a hardcore shopping shot captured of me at Portabella Road. True shop-a-holic vintage purse shopping in action!

Me and my brother. My outfit? TopShop lace sweater (trip purchase), Jimmy Choo for H&M Cropped Vest and Daisy Fuentes for Kohl's Gold Knot Necklace

My typical site-seeing ensemb: H&M Wool Coat (with hood in case of rain of course), J. Crew Metallic Jersey Stitch Hat in Grey, Camel Leather Banana Republic Boots

Portabella Road Shopping Trip: Ann Taylor Loft Wool Fedora and Gucci Shades

Top Shop, Here I come!

Hey BBB readers! Happy (early) Thanksgiving. I'm headed to Europe tomorrow for a work event and a trip to my favorite city - London - to visit my little brother who is studying there. Needless to say, there will be many a trip to Top Shop!

There won't be any posts for the next week but fear not, we return on Monday, November 29th with a special post/haul with all the European treasures (can't wait to jewelry shop at the markets) and my full London "trend report."

See you soon and until then here is a little bling, courtesy of Top Shop UK, of course, to hold you over.

Who Wore It Better? Kim Kardashian vs. Me?

Okay, I couldn't resist this. My favorite reality celeb and one of my personal style icons - none other than THE Kim Kardashian also decided to be Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween this year! Who knew I'd be on the same page with Kim this Halloween? I am certainly glad to be "keeping up" with this Kardashian!

But it does beg me to ask - who wore it better? Either way, I am just happy to be in such good fashion company!

Happy "Holly"ween!

I, for one, am a HUGE fan of Halloween. I love dressing up - maybe its my theater background or all of those theme parties I went to in college. Either way, every year I get super into Halloween - whether I put together my own costume or buy one in a bag! I always end up going to a few Halloween parties and being multiple costumes each year.

To get you in the mood - here are some of my favorite Halloween looks from the past.

(In order of appearance: Modern Vampire featuring H&M finds, Sookie Stackhouse Costume pulled together from HBO.com Store and American Apparel, Alice in Wonderland straight from the bag, Ricky's, Hippie aka Nicole Richie pulled from my own closet)

There is no reason to not dress up and with that in mind consider BBB to have gotten "a spooky makeover" for the rest of the week. Tomorrow, we will break down our favorite last minute, easy Halloween looks and look out Sunday for what I wore this Halloween!

Weekend Bling - 10/16 - 10/17

Today's Daily Bling is a fashionable find courtesy of my mom! My mom has a good eye for fashion (she was a fashion buyer in her former life, so this is not shocking) and we have enjoyed a good Saturday mall trip since I was big enough to walk (probably big enough to even take out of the house actually!)

Yesterday, I decided to take the trip out to Long Island to meet my mom and grandmother for one of these perfect shopping Saturdays. Although we didn't buy much I did get to check out some of my favorite "mall stores" which are just too long a subway ride from my apartment on the Upper East Side of NYC. One of these? Madewell, J. Crew's chic and rebellious little sister. I ended up with an adorable mesh and jersey tee that was on sale but as I was waiting to be checked out my mom spotted this too cute, too chic for words "Gatsby" necklace. I decided to pass only because I have two many silver chains, but this one is definitely making it on my Christmas list. Everyone knows I love a good bow detail, and this would make the perfect go-to for casual, work or night-out ensembs.

The "Gatsby" Necklace is $48 and also comes in gold. You can find it at Madewell.com.

How I Wore It Weekend - My New Fav. Fall Look!

This weekend I attended a work dinner with some of my favorite beauty bloggers in honor of New York Fashion Week. I decided to debut two of my favorite pick-ups for Fall, a camel colored chiffon and velvet dress from H&M and my new Nine West lace up shoe-booties.

I accessorized the look with my burgundy Marc Jacobs Stam bag (balancing the mix of high/low), my gold Michael Kors watch, primary colored Swarovski crystal indian inspired bangles and a long gold lariat style necklace. The end result? 70s inspired with a mix of boho chic!

Some detailed shots below:

It must be said that my Nine West Booties were so comfortable and I got millions of compliments on them. A definite recommended must-have for the season!

Full Breakdown:
  • H&M Chiffon Dress, $39.50
  • Nine West Booties, $139 purchased at ShoeWoo
  • Marc Jacobs Stam Bag, (got at a sample sale but regular $1200)
  • Swarovski Bangles, $29.50 at a Gilt Groupe Sale
  • Michael Kors Gold Watch, $250

Au Revoir The Hills!

Series Finale Tonight At 10/9c

Last night was the series finale of The Hills, the beloved MTV reality show about 20-something "non-celebrities" and their real "non-scripted" lives living in the Hollywood Hills. Although in recent years, specifically since the departure of Lauren Conrad and demise of Speidi, I haven't been as interested in the show as I once had been, I became eerily sentimental of the end of this chapter in reality tv. See, it might sound silly but I sorta grew up with the Laguna Beach/The Hills franchise. Although, I was in college when Laguna started, The Hills began around the same time I graduated and since the girls all skipped the college experience (minus Lo of course) I could relate to that trying to find yourself, find a balance between being a real adult and young adult, career-woman and irreverent part girl, thing. You know, dealing with friend drama, boy drama, job drama etc. So this is why, perhaps, it makes me slightly sad that the series has ended. An end of an era in a way. Although we still have The City, the luster is just not the same, and the whole living in Manhattan thing and working in the beauty/fashion/PR industry hits a little too close for me personally...

That being said, I do think it was time for the series to come to close. The 'non-celebrity" cast needs to move on, find real jobs or new reality series and I think its fitting for a change. My one hope is that with the end of this we aren't introduced to yet another Jersey-related reality series to fill the void. I promise I am not knocking Jersey Shore in anyway, its just that Snooki and J-Woww are certainly enough.

I will miss, beyond relating to the whole "drama" thing, the awesome Cali-style fashion inspiration I have gotten from the show over the years. As a bit of my own tribute to this, I am using today's post to feature my favorite looks from the finale season of The Hills.

Stephanie Pratt's Fab Statement Necklace and Date Night Black Sweetheart Neck Mini-Dress
Stephanie heads out on her first date with Josh and the two immediately have something in common -- they don't drink.

Lo's Chic Hippie Blouse While Grocery Shopping Look
Lo and Stephanie go grocery shopping and talk about Audrina's odd behavior at Ryan's show.

Kristin's White Cut Out Dress while causing a scene at the Nylon Party Look
Kristin gets into a shouting match with Allie when she tries to stick up for McKaela.

The Always Rocker Chic Audrina in Sky High Boots
Kristin, Audrina, Stephanie, Holly and Lo meet up to discuss the future of their Spencer/Heidi relationships.
Cute and Cool During another Confrontation
Lo, Stephanie and Audrina confront Kristin about her partying habits, and share they've heard talk of her using drugs. Frustrated, Kristin blows the girls off.

What do you think about The Hills finale and surprise ending? What do you make of the whole "sound stage" scenario and perhaps most importantly who had your favorite look at the live finale last night?

How I Wore It Weekend - The Long Island Wedding

This weekend I had the honor of attending one of my closest friend's wedding to her high school sweetheart ( and my bf's good friend). The wedding was held at the gorgeous Caryle on The Green, a country club on a golf course in Long Island, NY. The food was delish, band was hot, bride looked absolutely gorg. and good times were had by all! But you may be wondering, what did I wear? Here is my look breakdown:

Dress: Yeojin Bea Purple/Cream Colorblock Silk Cocktail Dress from Barney's New York
Jewelry: Aqua Statement Necklace, featured in Thursday's Daily Bling, layered J. Crew Gold Bangle Bracelets, and pearl drop earrings, borrowed from my mom
Bag: Lord & Taylor Gold Sequin Clutch (from my senior prom - over 8 years old!)
Shoes: Gold Aldo Strappy Sandals (about 4 years old and still hot!)

I'm Baaack! How I Wore It Vegas Recap

I'm baaack! Vegas was a fun time with my girls --- probably too fun ---but it lent me some inspiration for the old bloggie since this particular travel group is probably the most fashionable group of girls I know! Getting together with them is always fun and fashionable! Everyone trades their fashion, beauty and style tips; its like my real life SATC!

See a group shot below and I think you will get what I am talking about! I am in the center-ish in the silver and mauve striped sequin dress from H&M's Fall Collection with my Jimmy Choo for H&M clutch and studded leather gladiator heels.

And for the daytime? It was all about the bathing suit and Ray Bans. I wore a new one from Victoria's Secret in an abstract colored leopard print. I finished the look with a cotton Victoria's Secret romper and Tory Burch flip flops!

It was such a fun weekend but now that I am back in the swing of things I'll be back to regularly schedule daily bling post beginning tomorrow am!

Daily Bling - Thursday, May 28

Braided Bracelet

Today's Daily Bling is a Gilt Groupe find by designer Chan Luu, who is known for her unique woven and beaded bracelets. These leather woven bracelets are all the rage right now, but we decided to choose this one to feature because a) we love the loose braided construction, it sets it apart from the other wrap around bracelets we've seen b) purple is our favorite color, so selfishly we are drawn to this mix of purple beads.

This bracelet is normally $204 (I know, I know but in fairness Chan Luu is the master at this style and every celeb from Lady Gaga to Nicole Richie has been seen in this collection). The good news is you can currently scoop it up on Gilt for $98. We know that's still expensive but if you have admired Chan Luu as we have for some time, this is a really great price for one of her designs.

On a side note, I know posts have been sparse this week but between the boyf's bday (which is tomorrow!!), my coworker's last week at the office and my upcoming trip to Vegas I have been crazed! I am actually leaving for my friend Lindsay's bachelorette tomorrow so while I'm away for the Memorial Day Holiday I will be on a BBB hiatus. Don't worry though I'll be back, and probably with a lot of Las Vegas inspiration, on Tuesday!

Have a safe and fun long weekend!

How I Wore It Weekend

Happy Mother's Day All! Today I spent the day on Long Island with my mom, grandma, aunt and cousin (and the men too) to celebrate the day! It was unusually chilly in NYC and quite a shock since its been about 80 degrees lately. Decided to play it casual cool in one of our fav. cardis - a navy striped nautical piece by Yacht Club we got at Intermix almost 4 years ago! I paired it with some of my J. Crew favs, new Yosi Samra flats and out gold Coach cross-body bag.
Look from Head to Toe:
  • Nautical Striped Cardigan, Yacht Club at Intermix
  • J. Crew Navy Beaded Tank (tucked in)
  • J. Crew Gold and Crystal Chain Necklace
  • J. Crew Matchstick Destroyed Denim Skinny Jeans
  • Michael Kors Gold Watch and Gold Stud Earrings (hard to see in this pic!)
  • Coach Bag
  • Yosi Samra Gold Flats
How did you spend your mother's day?

Do You Like It? Do you? Do you?

Check out the new design layout at Booties, Bags and Baubles!! Do you guys like? We sure do. Definitely beats the bag image of the bags and barely legible title over it.

Thanks to the lovely and talented Nicole at The Pixel Boutique for my fab. new design.

I'll be missing in action for the next few days on vacation but back next week with some more new announcements!

Daily Bling - Thursday, April 15

Lucite jewelry is a huge trend for Spring so we are actually shocked we haven't posted something about Alexis Bittar yet considering no one does Lucite quite like her. Beautiful colored lucite cuffs, rings, earrings and necklaces have been a staple in her line since its inception and we have always have admired her pieces for that very reason.

Today's Daily Bling is no exception and if you ask us its truly more than a beautiful jewel but a true piece of art! It may be hard to tell from the image but this lucite and swarovski crystaled beauty is a cocktail ring from out of this world.

The Large Montauk Coral Oval Ring was inspired by a variety of cultures fused as one - part 1960s Boca Roton ladies who lunch, part laid-back Montauk beach sensibility, part Modern Navajo Art and Ikhat designs - its truly a unique yet wearable piece that I am sure the wearer would get tons of compliments on! We really love the way the coral, crystal and gold pieces compliment the lavendar-pink lucite stone. It's so modern yet really feminine and flirty and we just absolutely love, love, love it. In fact, we think we need to put this on the potential b-day list this year.

You can check out all the details on this ring and the other lovely lucite pieces in Alexis Bittar's collection on her website.

In other news, we have some changes coming to this site soon which we are excited to share with you (all good things, people so don't you worry!). We also will be taking a vacation to St. Lucia beginning tomorrow through Wednesday of next week and this vacation will also mean a break from blogging. So while we are on hiatus don't forget about us please AND know that we will be back next week with some super fun news!

Fashionably Yours,
H

The Daily Bling - Thursday, March 25th

I'm still really into this rocker chic look (and I do apologize if you are bored of it). I couldnt resist featuring this totally rad cuff I found on Intermix Boutique's website last night. The leather chain cuff by Cecilia de Boucraft is 2 1/2 inches wide and features rows and rows of silver chains and "zipper" like detailing. Its got a two snap closure so its good for small or larger wrists.

We like the idea of pairing this "harder" looking piece with a feminine LBD and heels or ripped denim pants and a fluttery, flirty silk top. The juxtaposition of this rockin' bangle with a more girly outfit would look super chic.

And on a personal side note "bling" I wanted to dedicate today's post to one of my good friends and daily follower of this blog, Meri, for getting some of her own special bling this week! Congrats!

Fashionably Yours,
H
